About Unruly Pieces:
The Declaration of Human Rights, drawn in Khmer on worn bricks, loosely set into a section of a ruin-as-restaurant floor, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
I first went to Cambodia in 1993 to calm a curiosity incited by my MA work with Cambodian refugees in Oakland, California. I went again in the late 1990s to study the translation and implementation of child rights for my Doctorate, and again a decade into the new millennium to catch up the pieces.
Since then, I have done 2 Fulbrights, one in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the other in Uganda. I have taught in universities and worked as a consultant on 4 continents now. Not everything fits together nicely. That's what I'll write about here.
